School Ground Rules

 

 Pick-ups and Drop-offs

• Drop off is up at the end of the sidewalk by the concrete patio (across from the church) and you can continue on and out the other side by Abbots Thrift.
• On M/T/Th/Fri - Pick up is at 2:30 p.m.
• On Wednesdays Pick up is at 1:30 p.m.
• Park to the left or right of the black gates if you are first and the rest of the cars come in and double park to line up. When the gates are opened, please (zipper) merge in and come up to the end of the sidewalk by the concrete patio to pick up your children and continue out the other gate by the Abbots Thrift.
• Please do not go around the cars in front of you once you have your children, or to get your children, please wait until the car in front has moved on.

Please be sure to let your student’s teacher know if they will be going home with someone other than their designated drivers after school. (ie: playdate or grandparent) We want to keep them safe and on schedule. Whoever picks up your children should have the phone number of the child’s teacher, so they can let us know when they are running behind. Texting is best for communication.

Tardy Policy

The parking lot gates are closed immediately at 8 a.m.

If your child is not in his or her classroom at 8 a.m., he or she is tardy regardless of whether or not the gate is open. (If someone is closing or is coming to close the gate; please do not ask the person to open or hold the gate for you.)

If the parking lot gate is closed, or being closed, please park and escort your child to the Church for morning prayers.

If your child is sick or has been sick:

Please remember, when it comes to being sick– do not to send your child back to school unless they have been fever and symptom free WITHOUT medication for more than 24 hours (if they have the bad flu virus, 48 hours is better) and at least 72 hours from the onset of symptoms. If your child has diarrhea, please keep them home. When the typical cold and flu season begins, let’s be vigilant with how the children are feeling before they come to school. It protects the small classrooms from a full-blown sickness running through. Thank you!

Attendance Policies

Class attendance is a critical aspect of successful course completion. Excessive absences or tardies has the potential to hinder academic progress and can negatively impact grades. A pupil absent from school with an excused absence will be allowed to complete all assignments and tests missed in a timely fashion. Unexcused absences will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis, and a possible consequence might be the inability to make up missing work or tests. When a student misses class due to illness, he will be given as many days to make up his work as days spent home sick. In the case of lost school days due to family vacations and other non school-related events, the work will be expected to be completed one day after returning to school. This information may be variable with different teachers, so please speak directly with teachers regarding specific questions about making up schoolwork.

Student Absences and Late Arrivals

Parents are obligated to notify the Academy office and the specific teacher concerning a student’s reason for being absent or arriving late. Please call or text 831-335-0328 by 8 a.m. to clear absences for that day or to inform us of late arrival. A reason for the absence (or late arrival) and the specific times of the absence should be included in the message. Students who have a legitimate reason to leave school during the day must leave with a parent, or designated adult with parental permission. Parents must sign students out for appointments (or leaving early) and sign them back in when they return.

Any absence that is not cleared by a parent is considered unexcused. The school secretary will call parents each day to report any unexcused absences.

Conduct

Students are expected to behave in a manner consistent with the highest standards of Christian behavior both on and off the campus, at all times. Students are expected to treat each other and all adults with kindness and respect. When at all possible, we believe that logical consequences are the best manner of discipline.

Physical or Verbal Abuse

Incidents involving profanity, bullying, fighting, or any inappropriate physical contact will be dealt with on an individual basis. Parents will be notified.

Theft or Vandalism of School or Personal Property

Any student’s involvement in theft or damage to school property or personal property will potentially result in consequences including remuneration for damages, suspension, or expulsion. In some cases, law enforcement may have to be informed. Parents will be contacted, and every attempt will be made to work out a reasonable solution to the problem.

Possession of Weapons or Drugs

Guns, knives, explosives, and drugs (including tobacco products, e-cigarettes) are not to be brought to school under any circumstances. Violations will be dealt with in a serious manner and students will be subject to suspension or expulsion. In some cases, law enforcement may have to be informed. Students using drugs or bringing them onto school property will be suspended or expelled.
